iPad Pro Review

The iPad Pro (2020) is huge. It has a 12.9-inch screen. When buying a tab, the larger the screen the better – you’ll easily be able to immerse in whatever you’re watching.

The tab is thin, which lets you carry it around without trouble. Its dimensions are 280.6 mm x 214.9 mm x 5.9 mm. It weighs 641 grams.

Its weight makes it feel expensive. The fact that it’s made from premium materials helps as well. You’re getting an aluminum unibody.

Being an Apple product, it’s no surprise that there is no microSD slot. However, the ROM it comes with is impressive.

What about a 3.5 mm headphone jack? It doesn’t come with one.

Are you expecting to be able to pick it up in many colours? You can only purchase it in silver and grey.

Here’s the deal:

There is no fingerprint sensor. But it comes with face-unlock. The iPad Pro unlocks in the blink of an eye.

Let’s talk about its display. It houses an IPS LCD panel. If you’ve read our reviews before, you’d know that the colours LCDs produce aren’t very vibrant. That being said, the specific LCDs Apple places are sharp. The Pro 12.9 comes with a 2048 x 2732-pixel resolution.

There’s barely any bezel action going on – this really lets you immerse in whatever you’re watching; its screen-to-body ratio is 85.4%.

Taking the tab outdoors? Glare won’t be an issue. 500 nits (typ) is the gold standard, and it goes above this, reaching the 600 mark.

Moving through its systems would be buttery. It boasts of a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Apple is known to include oleophobic coatings on devices. The iPad Pro 12.9 is no exception. The layer makes it impossible for grease and muck to stick to its screen.

You’re met with the company’s famous Wide Colour Gamut technology as well – a range of hues would be produced.

Out of the box, it runs iPadOs 13.4. We’re happy to say that you can upgrade it to the latest iPadOS 14.4.

What about its chipset? It houses the A12Z Bionic chip. When first released, it was one of the most powerful chipsets on the market.

Considering you’re getting a powerhouse chipset, attaching the Apple keyboard and using the tablet as a laptop alternative wouldn’t be hard.

The fact that the unit comes with a lot of RAM makes moving through its systems even smoother – 6 gigs of memory are available. Remember we said it doesn’t have a microSD slot? Well, you can pick it up with 128, 256, 512 or 1 TB of space.

Apple devices in general don’t have the best battery lives. The iPad houses a 9720 mAh unit. It would last around half a day. Of course, with its expert power-saving modes, you can get it to last a bit longer

One of the perks of purchasing the handset is the fact that you’re getting reverse charging. You’ll be able to use it as a power bank.

It comes with an 18 W fast charger. You’ll have to plug it into its USB-C port. Although it’s called a fast charger, it doesn’t live up to its name. The iPad goes from 0-100% in around 3 hours.

Who buys tablets for their cameras? The Pro 12.9 has a decent set-up, but it’s nowhere near as good as what you’d get on an iPhone.

Its back camera consists of a dual set-up. It houses a 12 MP (wide) lens and a 10 MP (ultrawide) lens. There is a powerful LED flash.

Its selfie camera is a single 7 MP shooter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have an LED flash.

Let’s talk about what you came for, its price. You can pick the iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) up for around Rs. 250,000. It’s a beastly unit so it’s no surprise that it costs an arm and a leg.
