Nokia is not as popular as it used to be. However, it comes with a diverse selection of phones – from feature phones to flagships, they have it all. The company is especially known to place great cameras on mobiles. You don’t need to be a phone expert like myself to see how quality the shots Nokia phones take are.
I’ve discussed the best Nokia phone price in Sri Lanka for various price ranges, and I reviewed the best mobile from the brand for each price point. If that’s not enough, I touched on some information you might like to know about the manufacturer. Let’s get to it.

The Nokia 110 is small. Its dimensions are 115.2 mm x 49.9 mm x 14.3 mm. Also, it’s pretty thick. This isn’t surprising as it’s a feature phone. Nokia wouldn’t have tried hard to make it sleek.
It’s got some decent weight for a feature phone. It comes in at 75 grams. The material on its back is plastic. Does it feel premium? Not really, but I’m not complaining.
You can pick it up in Ocean Blue, Pink and Black. I think the pink variant looks the best. You don’t see pink handsets these days.
Its display stretches 1.77 inches across. There’s a TFT panel on its face. For how big its display is, its pixel resolution is good. It’s 120 x 160 p.
The Nokia comes with a microSD slot. Now, the ROM you’ll be getting it with is 4 MB.
It has a small 800 mAh battery inside. It’s non-removable. You’ll have to use a regular 10 W charger on it. It will take well over 2 hours to fully charge. You probably should charge it before going to bed.
You’ll be able to make calls, SMS others, listen to FM radio, take pictures, play preinstalled games and use a flash light. The cherry on top is the fact that there’ll be a MP3 player.
The handset is dual-sim. There is no single-sim variant.
It comes with Bluetooth capabilities, which is appreciated.
To have crowned it the best Nokia mobile for its price, I compared it with the following:
Compared to every phone available for the Rs.5,000 price-range, the Nokia 110 is arguably the best.
The 220 4G was released in 2019. You wouldn’t expect such an affordable phone to look so chic, but it comes with a beautiful matte body. The colours it comes in are blue and black. The former is my favourite.
Its dimensions are 121.3 mm x 52.9 mm x 13.4 mm, so it’s thick. For a feature phone, it’s got some decent weight. It weighs 86.5 grams.
Its display stretches 2.4 inches across. The panel on its front is TFT. For how small its display is, its pixel resolution is not bad. It’s 240 x 320 p.
You’ll be able to SMS others, play games, listen to FM radio, take pictures and make calls.
The camera on its rear is a 0.3 MP shooter. Shots won’t be that good. You can’t be mad about this as the 220 is really cheap. Photographs will be grainy.
It has a microSD slot. The ROM and RAM it comes with are 24 MB of space and 16 MB of RAM.
Battery wise, a 1,200 mAh unit is inside. Considering the Nokia 220 is very basic, its 1,200 mAh battery would let it last a while.
What’s great about the 220 is that you can connect to 4G networks. It comes with Bluetooth capabilities too.
It can be picked up in either single or dual sim options. The variant I’m reviewing is the dual sim option.
The 8110 is equally as great as the 220, so I had to include it as well. One of the reasons it’s so good is because it can handle 4G networks.
Its dimensions are 133.5 mm x 49.3 mm x 14.9 mm. It’s got some great weight – it comes in at 117 grams.
Its screen is 2.4 inches. The panel on its front is TFT - it doesn’t produce the most vibrant colours. But you can’t expect anything more than a TFT to be placed as the 8110 is so affordable.
I’m a fan of its design. There is a slide that protects its keyboard. I know some people aren’t the fondest of it, unfortunately. An added benefit is that the slide provides drip and dust protection.
You can pick the 8110 up in a bright banana yellow. Ask yourself – how often do you see phones this colour?
The 8110 isn’t a feature phone. It runs the Kai operating system. You’ll be able to download WhatsApp, Facebook, Gmail and other popular apps. The chipset that powers the OS would be the Snapdragon 205.
It comes with 4 GB of ROM and 512 MB of RAM. Not a fan of the 4 gigs of storage? The device comes with a microSD slot.
There is a single shooter on its rear. It is a 2 MP lens. The quality of shots taken won’t be that great. Know that there is no front camera.
Its battery is 1,500 mAh. It’ll last half a day if you’re not heavy handed with it. You’ll have to use a regular 10 W charger on it – it’ll take well over 3 hours to fully charge.
To have chosen it along with the 220 4G as the best for the price range, I compared them with the following:
The C3 was released in 2020. For a smartphone, it’s pretty thick. Its dimensions are 159.9 mm x 77 mm x 8.7 mm. It weighs 184.5 grams. I’m a fan of devices with weight, as they feel the most premium.
It rocks a plastic build. Its sides are curved well, but the plastic doesn’t feel the most premium.
Its display stretches 5.99 inches across. The panel on its front is IPS LCD. If you’re not aware, IPS LCDs aren’t as vibrant as Super AMOLEDs or OLEDs.
There’s some bezel action going on. Its screen-to-body ratio is 75.2%. You’ll notice some blurriness. For how big its display is, its 720 x 1440 p resolution doesn’t cut it.
Are you planning on using the C3 outdoors a lot? Its display can’t handle glare well.
It runs Android 10 out of the box. You’ll be getting stock android. This means that there won’t be any bloatware or laggy customizations.
The chipset housed is super simple. There’s nothing wrong with this, as the mobile is really cheap. Nokia placed the Unisoc SC9863A.
The ROM and RAM it comes with are 16 GB of space and 2 GB of RAM. 16 gigs of space means that its storage will run out soon, so it’s great that there is a microSD slot.
The device is thick, so you would expect a large battery. Nokia decided to disappoint us. The battery inside is just 3,040 mAh. It’ll last around a day if you’re not heavy handed with it. No, the battery is not removable.
A 10 W regular charger would have to be used on it. It’ll go from 0-100% in well over 2 hours.
There’s a single 8 MP shooter on its rear. It won’t take the most vibrant or color accurate shots, but I’m not complaining. No phone so affordable could. On its front, there is a 5 MP shooter.
To crown it as the best Nokia phone for its price, I had to compare it with the following:
It is as thick as the entry above. Its dimensions are 161 mm x 76 mm x 8.7 mm. The handset’s got some good weight – it is 180 grams.
It has a plastic rear. There’s some texturing on its back which makes it look and feel more luxurious.
You can pick it up in the following colors; Fjord, Dusk, and Charcoal
The 3.4 has a 6.39-inch display. The panel on its front is IPS LCD. There’s not much bezel action going on, as its screen-to-body ratio is 81.9%. I’m not a fan of its pixel resolution. It’s 720 x 1560 p, so you’ll notice blurriness.
Out of the box, it runs Android 10. You’ll be able to upgrade it to Android 11. There won’t be a heavy UI as the device runs Stock Android.
The chipset housed is the Snapdragon 460. It’s a budget processor that’s not too bad.
You’ll be picking it up with 64 GB of space and 3 GB of RAM. Yes, there’ll be a microSD slot. The 3 GB RAM means that apps won’t force close if there are many running in the background.
There’s a 4,000 mAh battery inside. It’s non removable. It’ll last around a day if you’re not heavy handed with it. The battery can’t be removed. You’ll have to use a 10 W charger on it. It’ll go from 0-100% in around 3 hours.
The 3.4 has a triple set-up on its rear. It consists of a 13 MP wide lens, a secondary 5 MP ultrawide lens and a 2 MP depth sensor. On its front, there is an 8 MP wide shooter. I’m a fan of the quality of shots taken.
To crown it as the best, I had to compare it with the following:
You’re looking at a handset that was released in 2020. Its dimensions are 161 mm x 76 mm x 8.7 mm. The 5.2 comes in at 181 grams, so it feels well-built.
It’s made from plastic. However, its build is really ergonomic. Also, there’s a finish on it that makes it look like metal.
You can purchase it in the following colours, Polar Night and Dusk. The Dusk variant looks the best, as it’s a deep captivating purple.
Its screen stretches 6.39 inches across. The panel on its front is IPS LCD. There’s not much bezel action going on, as it’s screen-to-body ratio is 81.9%. Its pixel resolution doesn’t cut it. It’s 720 x 1560 pixels – you’ll notice blurriness.
The chipset housed is the Snapdragon 662. It’s a mid-ranger that can handle everyday tasks easily. The processor powers Android 10. There’ll be Stock Android inside of it.
It has a microSD slot. Now, the ROM and RAM it comes with are 64 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM.
Although it’s thick, it doesn’t have a large battery. The one inside is 4,000 mAh. It’s non-removable. You’ll have to use a 10 W regular charger on it. The 5.2 will go from 0-100% in well over 2 hours.
There’s a quad camera set-up on its rear. It consists of a 48 MP wide lens, a 5 MP ultrawide lens, a 2 MP macro lens and a 2 MP depth sensor. The quality of shots taken would be alright, but they won’t be that good in dim settings.
There’s a single 16 MP wide shooter on its front.
The following are the units it wins against:
From all the entries so far, the Nokia 7 Plus is the oldest. It was released in early 2018. Being so old, you may be wondering why it snagged the spot as the best Nokia phone for this price point. It’s because there aren’t that many phones from the brand on the island for its price. So, the 7 Plus won by default.
Its thin compared to the rest. Its dimensions are 158.4 mm x 75.6 mm x 8 mm. The handset comes with some decent weight. It is 183 grams.
It has sides that are curved well. The material on its back is aluminum. I have a small problem with it – aluminum can be slippery.
The 7 Plus is big. Its screen stretches 6 inches across. The panel on its front is IPS LCD. Unfortunately, there’s some bezel action going on. Its screen-to-body ratio is just 77.2%.
There’s Gorilla Glass 3 on its front, so it’ll be hard trying to scruff it.
For how big its display is, its pixel resolution is great. It’s 1080 x 2160 p.
It runs Android 8.1 out of the box. You’ll be able to upgrade it to Android 10. The chipset inside is the Snapdragon 660 – it’s a pretty mid-range processor.
The ROM and RAM you’ll be getting is 64 GB of space and 4 GB of RAM. Does it come with a microSD slot? The answer is yes.
Its battery is not the biggest. The unit housed is 3,800 mAh. Expect the battery to last around a day. It’s non-removable. You’ll have to use an 18 W fast charger on it. The Plus will go from 0-100% in less than 2 hours.
There is a dual camera set-up on its rear. It consists of a primary 12 MP wide lens and a 13 MP telephoto lens. On its front, there’ll be a 16 MP shooter.
As mentioned, there aren’t a lot of mobiles to compare it with. It earned its spot on our list by default.
The Nokia 8.1 was also released in 2018. Unlike the entry above, it was released towards the end of the year. It weighs 180 grams so it feels well-built. The fact that it has a glass body also helps.
The colours you can pick it up in are Blue, Silver, Steel, Copper, Iron, and Steel.
It has a 6.18-inch display. The panel on its front is IPS LCD. What’s great is that it’s HDR10-rated. You’ll be able to stream HDR content.
It has an 81.2% screen to body ratio. This means that there’ll not much bezel action going on. You won’t notice much pixilation. Its pixel resolution is an impressive 1080 x 2280 p.
You’ll be getting Android 9 out of the box. The good news is that you can upgrade it to Android 11. Inside the phone is the Snapdragon 710 processor – it’s a powerful mid-range chipset.
The 8.1 comes with 64 GB of ROM and 4 GB of RAM. Also, there’ll be a microSD slot.
Let’s talk about its battery. There is a 3,500 mAh unit housed. It’ll last less than a day. You can use an 18 W fast charger on it. Its battery will go from 0-100% in around 2 hours.
Considering how expensive the Nokia 8.1 is, it’s natural for you to expect reverse or faster regular charging. Unfortunately, Nokia decided to disappoint us.
In the camera department, it does well. There’s a dual set-up on its rear. It consists of a 12 MP primary lens and a 13 MP secondary sensor. The quality of shots taken are superb. The company’s known to make great cameras after all.
On its front, there is a 20 MP wide sensor. The pictures taken would be Instagram ready.
Just like the 7 Plus, the 8.1 was chosen by default. There aren’t a lot of phones from the brand for this price point. I would say that the Nokia 5.4 we mentioned earlier is better for its price.
You’re looking at another phone that was released in 2018. It hit the markets in the beginning of the year. It’s not the slimmest, but it’s definitely not thick. Its dimensions are 140.9 mm x 73 mm x 7.5 mm. The device is heavy. It weighs 177 grams.
It rocks a Gorilla Glass 5 and steel build. It feels like a million bucks, but it can be slippery. It’ll collect a lot of fingerprints too.
You can only pick it up in black.
How clumsy are you? You’ll love that the 8 Sirocco is IP67 resistant. It’ll be able to handle 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
Its screen is small – it stretches 5.5 inches across. If there was a larger display, you’ll be able to immerse well in whatever you’re watching. The absence of the large display is a shame as the panel on its front is vibrant. It’s P-OLED.
What about its screen-to-body ratio? It’s 81.1%.
Its pixel resolution is really good for its size. It is 1440 x 2560 p. You won’t notice any pixilation even if you look closely. Just like on its rear, there is Gorilla Glass 5 on its front.
The device runs Android 8 out of the box. You can upgrade it to Android 10.
The chipset housed is beastly. It’s the Snapdragon 835. When the Nokia 8 Sirocco dropped, it was one of the most powerful processors around.
In terms of its storage and memory, you’ll be getting it with 128 GB of ROM and 6 GB of RAM. The 6 GB RAM along with the Snapdragon 835 chip means that its insides would be very buttery.
The battery inside is 3,260 mAh. It’s non-removable. You’ll have to use an 18 W fast charger on it. Thanks to its quick-charge 4 feature, it’ll go from 0-50% in around half an hour.
Will you be getting wireless charging? The answer is yes. The phone’s battery is small, so you can’t expect reverse charging.
There’s a dual camera set-up on its rear. It consists of a 12 MP wide lens and a 13 MP telephoto lens. The quality of photographs taken would be superb. This is also true in low-light.
It earned the spot as the best Nokia handset for its price as it didn’t have any rivals to be compared against. Like I said earlier, the Nokia 3.4 is much more worth your cash.

In South East and East Asia, you don’t see the number 4 that much. It’s considered unlucky. You won’t see the number that often in Nokia models in the region because of this.
The manufacturer’s a legend. The first ever GSM call was done with a Nokia phone, in 1991. The man who had the honor of making the call was the Prime Minister of Finland, Harri Holkeri.
The Finnish giant produces cameras for other companies. This shouldn’t surprise you as their cameras are really good.
Nokia’s been around forever. They came into being in 1815 and first started as a paper production company.
Nokia’s named after a river – the Nokianvirta.
If you’re interested in any of the phones we reviewed, you might be wondering how often Nokia phones get software updates for. It would be a shame to buy a pricey unit from the brand just to lose Android support soon.
You get Android updates up to 2 years after a handset is released. And you’ll get security updates for up to 5 years after.
When the Android Pie update released in September of 2018, the Nokia 8, 5.1 plus, 7.1 and 6.1 plus all received Pie 53 days after it rolled out.
The first stable release of Android 11 was on February 2nd, 2021, on the Nokia 8.3. The OS was rolled out by Google on September 8, 2020, so Nokia worked fast.
The Finnish giant doesn’t have a large roster of celebs that use its devices. But from the few available, Bollywood and Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra is the most famous. She’s been the face of many of the company’s campaigns and even uses Nokia phones in her daily life.
Here are two phones from the company that I’m the most excited for.
HMD’s X20 was released in April of this year. Nokia will be following up on the handset, releasing the XR20. It’s expected to launch towards the fall of 2021.
It’ll run Android 11 out of the box. Like most phones this year, it’ll be able to connect to 5G networks.
The phone would be huge, coming with a 6.67-inch display. The panel on its front would be IPS LCD.
As a lot of information on its specs was released on Geekbench, we know that it comes with 4 gigs of RAM. The processor inside would be the Snapdragon 480 5G chip. It’s not the fastest, but it’s definitely nothing to complain about. If you’re familiar, the same processor is inside the X10 and X20.
No information about its storage and memory are available, unfortunately.
It’s tipped that the phone will have a starting price of around Rs.61,500.
The X50 is not only one of the Nokia phones I’m excited for, but it’s going to be one of the most exciting releases of this year.
Let’s talk about its chipset. The processor inside the X50 will be the Snapdragon 775. It’s a mid-range unit that’ll be able to handle whatever you throw at it.
One of the best things about the X50 is its camera. Nokia will be placing a whopping 108 MP lens on its rear. There’ll likely be 5 lenses on its rear, with the primary one being the 108 MP shooter.
Its display is tipped to be very impressive. Firstly, it’ll be 6.5 inches. The panel on its front would be QHD+. Animations would be super buttery, as it’d have a 120 HZ refresh rate.
The X50 is supposed to have a large battery too. It’ll be 6,000 mAh. Unfortunately, the presence of reverse charging isn’t known. We don’t know much about its charging capabilities in general.
So, when will it be released? In August of 2021. You’ll have to spend around Rs.40,000 island-wide.
Compare Nokia’s handsets to ones from Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung and Huawei. You’ll notice how minimalistic their interface is. That’s because Android One is in the newer devices. It’s a UI that’s very similar to stock android. It isn’t as bare-boned. You won’t notice any heavy customizations and bloatware. In a sense, you’re getting a true Android experience.
Nokia used to be very popular, not just in Sri Lanka but worldwide. The brand is slowly regaining a loyal following globally.
Their phones look good and come with great specs. Unfortunately, the Nokia Android phone price list in Sri Lanka isn’t that big. For example, if you have over Rs.150,000 to spend, you won’t be able to find a mobile from the brand to pick up. This is not the case with rivals like Samsung or Xiaomi.
But the manufacturer is one of the few that still releases decent feature phones.
