Oppo K1 Review

The Oppo K1 is a big phone. Its screen stretches 6.4 inches across. Most mobiles these days are all about size. Holding it might be tough as it’s slippery and made from glossy plastic.

It doesn’t have the most weight. It comes in at 156 grams. The more weight a phone has, the more premium it’ll feel.

The K1 is thin. The following are its dimensions - 158.3 mm x 75.5 mm x 7.4 mm.

There is no fingerprint sensor on its back. You’re getting one on its display. The handset unlocks in the blink of an eye. Considering that it isn’t very expensive, it’s no surprise that face-unlock wasn’t placed.

Although it’s made from plastic, there’s gorilla glass 5 on its front. It’s pretty scratch resistant. Speaking of its display, you’re getting a Super AMOLED screen. Colours will pack a punch. There’s a good screen-to-body ratio too. This results in barely any bezel action going on. What is its ratio? 84.5%.

It has some decent sharpness. Its resolution is 1080 x 2340 pixels. You won’t notice any blurriness even if you look closely.

Being a phone that was released in 2018, it runs Android 8.1 out of the box. You’re getting the OS through Oppo’s proprietary ColorOS. It comes with many themes. There is news of it receiving the Android 10 update, in case you’re wondering.

If you look across its sides, you’ll find a microSD slot. You can expand its storage even though the ROM it comes with is good. You can pick it up with 64 GB of space, and 4 or 6 GB of RAM. Unfortunately, expanding its RAM is not possible. However, the memory it comes with is more than enough to make moving through its systems a breeze.

The chipset housed is the Snapdragon 660. It’s a processor fit for a mid-ranger. Don’t get too heavy-handed with it.

Battery-wise, a small unit is present. How do you feel about a 3600 mAh battery? The K1 will last a little over a day. No, its battery is not removable. You’ll be placing a 10 W regular charger into its micro USB port.

The thing is:

Micro USBs are considered dated these days. But you can’t forget that the mobile is a mid-ranger from a few years ago. As you can imagine, it takes a while to charge.

Let’s talk about its primary camera. It consists of a dual set-up. They are 16 MP and 2 MP depth lens. The set-up takes decent shots, but don’t expect anything Instagram-worthy in dim settings. Its selfie camera houses a single shooter. It is a 25 MP shooter.

Here’s what you came for, its price. You can pick the Oppo K1 up for around Rs.40,000 island-wide. Currently, it is out of stock, though.
