You don’t need to be a phone expert like myself to know that Huawei’s very popular in Sri Lanka. Whether you have a lot or little to spend, I’ve discussed the best Huawei phone price in Sri Lanka for various price ranges. As an added bonus, I went through some information that’d let you learn more about the company.

The Y5P is not a thin phone. Its dimensions are 146.5 mm x 70.9 mm x 8.4 mm. Phones that are heavy feel the most premium. Unfortunately for the Y5P, it only comes in at 144 grams.
You’ll be able to pick it up in 3 different colors. They are Mint Green, Midnight Black and Phantom Blue.
Its screen stretches 5.45 inches across. There’s an IPS LCD panel on its front. If you’re familiar with IPS LCDs, you’d know they’re not as vibrant as AMOLED or OLEDs.
The device has a 73.8% screen-to-body ratio. This means there’s some bezel action going on.
It comes with a 720 x 1440 p resolution. Due to how small its display is, its screen resolution is not too bad.
You won’t be able to use the Y5P in the harsh Sri Lankan sun. Its display can’t handle glare well.
The handset runs Android 10 out of the box.
Here’s the deal:
It doesn’t come with Google Play services. All new releases from Huawei don’t.
Let’s talk about the chipset housed inside. It’s the Mediatek Helio P22. The P22 isn’t a very powerful processor. You’ll only be able to do the most basic tasks with it.
It comes with 32 GB of ROM and 2 GB of RAM. If you have a lot of apps running in the background, you’d experience lag.
The battery inside is 3020 mAh. It’s non removable. You can expect it to fully drain in around a day with non-extensive use. You’ll have to use a 10 W regular charger on it. Get a good book ready, as charging will take 2.5 hours.
Considering how affordable the device is, it shouldn’t surprise you that it doesn’t come with reverse or wireless charging.
To crown it as the best for its price range, we had to compare it with the following:
The Y6P is thick. Its dimensions are 159.1 mm x 74.1 mm x 9 mm. I’m a fan of phones with weight, so I like that it is 185 grams.
You’re looking at a mobile with a plastic body. The plastic on its back looks like glass from a distance, though.
The colours you can pick it up in are Phantom Purple, Emerald Green and Midnight Black.
It has a large 6.3-inch screen. The panel on its front is IPS LCD. Its screen-to-body ratio is 81.3%, which is why there’s barely any bezel action going.
For how big its display is, its screen resolution doesn’t cut it. The Y6P comes with a 720 x 1600-pixel resolution. You’ll notice blurriness.
When in the sun, you won’t be able to see its screen property. It can’t handle glare well.
It runs Android 10 out of the box. If you guessed it, yes, there is no Google Play store.
The chipset inside is the same as on the entry above. You’re getting the Mediatek Helio P22.
The storage and memory it come with are 64 GB ROM and 4 GB RAM. The 4 GB of RAM never makes apps closing an issue. Even though the phone comes with a lot of storage, it still has a microSD slot.
Huawei placed a 5,000 mAh battery inside. It takes over a day to fully drain if you’re not heavy handed with it.
You’ll be getting a 10 W regular charger out of the box. The handset fully charges in over 2 hours as a result.
Considering how affordable the Y6P is, I wasn’t expecting reverse charging. But Huawei decided to surprise me.
To crown it the best for its price range, we had to compare it with the following equally great units:
The Y7A has a plastic rear with a metallic glossy look. You can purchase it in some great colours. The following choices are available: Crush Green, Blush Gold, and Midnight Black.
It’s thick – its dimensions are 165.7 mm x 76.9 mm x 9.3 mm.
I’m a fan of phones with weight, so it’s great that the Y7A is 206 grams.
It has a 6.67-inch display. There’s an IPS LCD panel on its front. You won’t notice much bezel action, as its screen-to-body ratio is an impressive 84.3%.
For how big its display is, its screen resolution works perfectly. It is 1080 x 2400 pixels - you won’t notice any blurriness.
The mobile runs Android 10 out of the box. As it was released at the end of 2020, it doesn’t come with the Google Play store.
The chipset inside is the Kirin 710A. It’s a mid-range processor that’ll handle whatever you throw at it.
If you want a phone with a microSD slot, the Huawei Y7A is right up your alley. But let’s talk about its storage and memory. The variant I’m reviewing comes with 64 GB of space and 4 GB of RAM.
The battery inside is huge. It is 5,000 mAh unit and is non-removable. You’ll be using a 22.5 W fast charger on it. It’ll go from 0-100% in a little over an hour.
Unlike the entry above, reverse charging isn’t available. Don’t expect wireless charging either.
The Y7P ties with the Y7A as the best Huawei phones in Sri Lanka between Rs.30,000 – 40,000.
Its dimensions are 159.8 mm x 76.1 mm x 8.1 mm. It has some decent weight. You’re looking at a handset that is 176 grams.
It rocks a plastic body. The plastic on it looks and feels good.
What colours does it come in? You can pick it up in Aurora Blue and Midnight Black.
The Y7P is big. Its screen stretches 6.39 inches. There’s IPS LCD on its front. You’re more than familiar with the panel by this point.
There’s not much bezel action going. Its screen-to-body ratio is 82.4%.
Considering how big the Y7P is, I’m not a fan of its screen resolution. It’s just 720 x 1560 p. You’ll notice blurriness if you look closely.
Out of the box, the device runs Android 9. The phone was released in 2020, so there’s no Google Play services.
The chipset housed is the Kirin 710F. It’s a more powerful processor compared to the Kirin 710A on the Huawei Y7A.
It comes with 64 GB of ROM and 4 GB of RAM. What’s great this is that expanding its storage is possible. There is a microSD slot.
There is a 4,000 mAh battery inside it. Expect the battery to fully drain in around a day. You won’t be able to remove it. A 10 W charger would have to be used. Its battery fully charges in over 2 hours. Unfortunately, you won’t be getting reverse or wireless charging.
To crown the Huawei Y7A and Y7P as the best for their price range, we had to compare them against the following:
The Nova 7i’s dimensions are 159.2 mm x 76.3 mm x 8.7 mm. Its screen stretches 6.4 inches across. Also, it has some decent weight – it is 183 grams.
Although its rear is plastic, you’d find it hard to tell that glass isn’t on its back.
The colors you can pick the 7i up in are Midnight Black, Crush Green and Sakura Pink. The pink version catches the most attention. After all, how often do you see pink phones?
The panel on its front is LTPS IPS LCD. It’s better than regular IPS LCD as pictures are sharper.
You won’t notice much bezel action going on. The device comes with a 83.5% screen-to-body ratio. You won’t notice any blurriness either. Its screen resolution is an impressive 1080 x 2310 pixels.
Using the 7i outdoors would be a breeze. Its display can handle glare well.
The Huawei phone runs Android 10 out of the box. Yes, there are no Google Play services. If it’s any consolation, the chipset housed inside is great. You’ll be getting the Kirin 810 – it can handle some pretty graphic extensive games.
Along with the 8 GB of RAM, there’d be 128 GB of space. Will you be able to expand its storage? The answer is yes. But Huawei says you can only expand its storage up to 256 GB. Also, the microSD slot you place should be the nano kind.
The battery inside is 4,200 mAh. It’ll last a little over a day if you’re not heavy handed with it. You’ll have to use a 40 W fast charger to charge it. It’ll take around half an hour to go from 0-70%.
Considering the device’s price, you’d expect it to come with reverse or wireless charging. Unfortunately, Huawei decided to disappoint us.
To crown the Nova 7i as the best Huawei phone for its price, I had to compare it with the following:
Compared to all the units so far, the 5T is the oldest. It was released in 2019 while the rest are all from 2020.
It’s really thin. The following are its dimensions, 154.3 mm x 74 mm x 7.8 mm. It has some great weight. It comes in at 174 grams.
Being pricey, it’s no surprise that it rocks a glass rear. Its frame is aluminum, which is a plus.
You’re looking at a big phone. Its screen stretches 6.26 inches across. There’s not much bezel action going on either. Its screen-to-body ratio is 84.2%.
Its screen is sharp. The 5T comes with a 1080 x 2340-pixel resolution.
If we didn’t mention the panel on its front, it’s IPS LCD.
Out of the box, it runs Android 9. You’ll be able to upgrade it to Android 10. The Google Play store will thankfully be present. All Huawei phones released after August 2019 can’t run Google Play services. Fortunately for the 5T, it released just before this cut off period.
There’s a powerful processor inside. It is the Kirin 980. Here’s how it stands against the Apple A14 Bionic which is one of the most powerful chipsets in the game.
The variant I’m reviewing comes with 128 GB of space and 6 GB of RAM. If you’re expecting a micro-SD slot, get ready to be disappointed.
As the Nova is so thin, you can’t expect a large battery to be housed. The one inside is 3,750 mAh. It’ll fully drain in around a day. You’ll be using a 22.5 W fast charger on it. Its battery will go from 0-50% in half an hour.
We compared it to the following to crown it as the best for its price:
The Pro stretches 155 mm x 73.9 mm x 7.8 mm across. It comes with some decent weight – it weighs 180 grams.
You’re looking at a device that has a glass back. The material on its frame is aluminum. What’s great is that there’s Gorilla Glass 5 on its front. Good luck trying to scratch it.
You can purchase it in Black and Gold.
Also, the P20 Pro is IP67 certified. It’ll be able to handle 1 meter of water for around 30 minutes.

For how big its display is, its screen resolution is great. It’s 1080 x 2240 pixels. You won’t notice any blurriness.
Out of the box, the P20 Pro runs Android 8.1. You can thankfully upgrade it to Android 10. As the device was released in 2018, it still supports Google Play services.
The chipset housed is the Kirin 970. The P20 Pro is a former flagship, so it’s no surprise that the processor inside of it is beastly.
If you’re expecting a microSD slot, get ready to be disappointed. Now, the ROM and RAM you can pick it up in are impressive. The variant I’m reviewing comes with 64 GB of space and 6 GB of RAM.
There’s a 4,000 mAh battery inside. It’s non-removable. You’ll be using a 22.5 W fast charger on it. The handset’s battery will go from 0-60% in around half an hour.
Considering that the P20 Pro is a former flagship, it’s disappointing that it doesn’t come with reverse or wireless charging.
We didn’t really have any other Huawei devices in its price range to compare it with. But we must say, the Nova 5T we discussed above is superior. You might want to check it out as it’s more affordable.
The Mate 20 is from 2018. It’s pretty thin. The following are its dimensions, 158.2 mm x 77.2 mm x 8.3 mm.
It has some decent weight. It comes in at 188 grams.
You can purchase it in the following colors Midnight Blue, Twilight, Black, Emerald Green, and Pink Gold.
Being so pricey, it shouldn’t surprise you that its body was made from glass. Although the glass makes it look premium, I have a small issue with it. Its rear can be very slippery. This is especially true as its frame is a soft aluminum.
The former flagship can handle accidental dunks in water. It is IP53 resistant.
The Mate 20’s screen stretches 6.53 inches across. The panel on its front is IPS LCD. I would’ve loved OLED instead, but you don’t always get what you want.
If it’s any consolation, you’ll be met with an infinity display. Its screen-to-body ratio is a whopping 88%.
For how big its display is, I think its screen resolution is really good. Its display is 1080 x 2244 pixels.
Android 9 is available out of the box. You’ll be able to upgrade its insides to Android 10. The chipset inside is familiar. It’s the Kirin 980 we met in the 5T.
It comes with a microSD slot. You’ll be able to expand its storage by 256 GB. Just know that you’ll have to place a microSD card that is nano.
The variant I’m reviewing comes with 64 GB of space and 6 GB of RAM.

Let’s talk about the Nova 5T again. Although much more affordable, it comes with similar specs to the Mate 20. Decide whether you want to spend over Rs.100,000 or get a similar mobile for much less.
You might think I’d include the newer Huawei P40 Pro here, but I don’t think it’s worth the price. The P30 Pro is almost Rs.200,000 cheaper but provides better bang for your buck.
Let’s talk about the P30 Pro.
It’s pretty thin. The following are its dimensions, 158 mm x 73.4 mm x 8.4 mm. It’s got some great weight. You’re looking at a phone that weighs 192 grams.
Scratching its back would be hard. There’s aluminosilicate on its rear. Regular aluminum is on its frame.
You can purchase the Pro in many colors. How do you feel about the following options - Aurora, Amber Sunrise, Breathing Crystal, Black, Pearl White, Misty Lavender, and Mystic Blue?
You don’t have to worry about accidentally dunking it in the pool. The Huawei phone is IP68-resistant. It’ll be able to handle 2 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
The mobile has a 6.47-inch screen. On its display, there is an OLED panel. Colors would be very vibrant. The cherry on top is the fact that it’s HDR10 rated.
There won’t be much bezel action going on. The device comes with an 88.6% screen-to-body ratio. Its display hits all the sweet spots as you’re getting a superb pixel resolution too. It’s 1080 x 2340 pixels.
It runs Android 9 out of the box. You’ll be able to upgrade its systems to Android 10.
The processor housed inside is the Kirin 980.
Yes, you can expand its storage. However, you’ll have to use a nano microSD card. You’ll be able to expand its storage up to 256 GB.
The P30 Pro variant I’m reviewing comes with 128 GB of space and 6 GB RAM.
How does it do in the battery department? There’s a 4,200 mAh battery housed inside. It’s non-removable. You’ll have to use a 40 W charger on it. The mobile will go from 0-70% in half an hour.
I’m happy to say that you’re getting reverse and wireless charging. The mobile comes with 15 W fast wireless and 2.5 W reverse charging.

Now that you have a good idea of the Huawei phone price list in Sri Lanka, let’s talk about things that’ll help you learn more about the brand.
The manufacturer makes use of the EMUI interface. Many aren’t fans of the UI as it can be sluggish. But this is only because it’s super customizable. Here are some reasons the UI is great:
Whatever it is you want to keep hidden, the UI has your back. It lets you create a new account on your phone to store things away. You’ll only be able to access the secret account with a password that you know.
The translator app on EMUI is awesome. Not only is it functional but it is also easy to use.
Want a superior listening experience? Huawei Histen sound effects let you adjust sound quality until it’s perfect.
I’d argue with anyone about how customizable the user interface is. You can change all sorts of things in your home-screen, including grids, app icons and transitions. Also, you can purchase themes for free or get hold of paid ones.
Huawei’s known to update phones often. You can expect an update every 4-5 months.
EMUI is a great interface. However, it runs on the Android operating system. Huawei is looking to create their own operating system that’ll rival Android. This is where Harmony OS comes in.
The Chinese giant said that around 100 of their smartphones and tabs would be updated to Harmony OS by mid-2022.
Some of the handsets that would be getting the Harmony OS upgrade would be older units like the Mate 9, Mate 10, P10, P20 and M5 series. Remember that the Mate 9 was released all the way back in 2016.
If you’re a Huawei fan boy, you’ll be disappointed that a lot of celebrities don’t own phones from the brand.

The tech giant invested over $1 million USD in Canada’s Carleton University, to develop the college’s computer research lab. That’s not all, they also sponsored MIT’s communications future program.
I mentioned how newer devices from the brand don’t come with Google Play services. And you may be wondering why this is. The US government blacklisted the Chinese giant while a trade war between the United States and China was going on. Google is an American company so Google Play services aren’t on newer Huawei phones.
Due to the blacklisting, the Chinese manufacturer has been facing issues acquiring the tech and materials to make their Kirin chips too– this is a lethal blow .
If you do some research, you’ll see that the brand has worked with 80% of the world’s top communication companies.
Ren Zhengfei is the founder of the tech giant. Before he founded the company, he was in the army. He decided to take the leap and create Huawei at 42 years of age, in 1987.
He created it to make telephone exchange switches, to supply the Chinese army.
The company’s going to release 2 phones I’m excited about. Let’s talk about them.
Until recently, its release date wasn’t known. It’ll launch in the end of July.
The device is going to be thin. Its dimensions would be 156.7 mm x 74 mm x 8.3 mm. It’ll be made from glass and aluminum. If you have slippery hands, you might want to watch out. The P50’s glass build along with its sleek design will easily make it slip out of your hand.
It’ll come with a 6.58-inch display. The panel on its front would be OLED.
Here’s the deal:
The OS inside would be special as it’d be Harmony OS. The operating system is supposedly what caused the P50 line to delay so much. As mentioned, Harmony is Huawei’s alternative to Android, and it’s going to be available in a whole eco-system of tech.
No information about its battery size is available. There is no information about its charging capabilities either.
But we know quite a bit about its cameras. Just like Xiaomi, Huawei will be making use of ‘liquid lens’. It’ll let you autofocus faster – it’ll supposedly focus as fast as a human eye. The image stabilization you’ll get would also be superb.
The chipset rumored to be in the P50 is the Kirin 9000E.
Huawei hasn’t made it public knowledge how much the flagship would exactly cost. But my best guess would be around Rs.190,000 – 219,000. The P30 and P40 were this price so there’s no reason for the P50 to not be either.
The P50 Pro will launch with its sibling. It’s rumored to be a bit larger. You’re looking at a phone with a 6.6-inch screen. The panel on its front would be OLED. Unfortunately, not a lot is known abouts its dimensions.
It’ll likely be made from high-quality glass and aluminum. Also, it’ll have a very ergonomic build.
The processor inside of it would be the same as in the Mate 40 – the ultra-powerful Kirin 9000. The P50 Pro and the P50 weren’t supposed to house Kirin processors after 2020 due to the restrictions enforced by the US, but Huawei seems to have made it possible.
The Kirin 9000 on the P50 Pro would be a bit more powerful than the Kirin 9000E on its counterpart.
Just like its brother, the Pro will have a liquid lens. There’s no news about the specific camera set-up it’d have, though.
The ROM and RAM it’ll come with are rumored to be 512 GB of space and 12 GB of memory.
Of course, the device would come with Harmony OS.
Just like its sibling, it isn’t public knowledge how much it would cost. But If we look at the P30 Pro and P40 Pro, they were around Rs.220,000 – 280,000 when they launched. The P50 Pro would likely be in this price range.
The Huawei mobile phone price in Sri Lanka is diverse, as there are options for all kinds of budgets. Although Huawei phones come with great features, the fact that there won’t be Google Play services on devices released after August 2019 is something to consider.
